It has been a deadly summer for drownings in parts of Canada this summer.
Ontario has seen 30 drownings in 30 days in the month of July, 57 in total since the beginning of 2019.
There have been 50 drownings on the Great Lakes, putting 2019 on track for a record-breaking year.
Water levels are high in some areas, posing additional risks for boaters and swimmers.
A simple change in a regulation could at least keep children safe when engaging in boating activities. A properly sized life jacket or PFD is already required to be on a vessel. Why not make it mandatory for children to wear it?
Keep our kids safe on Canada’s waterways.
Change the law. Save a Life.
